LelikTec 7-inch Dual-core Tablet Hands-on Review (Model reviewed Phantom 7 now updated to Avalon 7)

I tested the LélikTec Phantom 7 Tablet PC LelikTec Dual-core tablet and I must admit, the first impressions are good. This one is black and looks very nice with a matte back cover. It is quite sleek and is also lightweight, which makes it handy; even kids can easily hold it. The 7-inch capacitive Touch Screen is big enough to read things on or to visit your favourite websites.

Some Specs of Interest

The Phantom 7 comes with the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Android operating system and a 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU.

[The updated Avalon 7 from LelikTec has a dual-core AllWinner A20 processor and runs Android 4.2.2 - Jelly Bean with BBC iPlayer pre-installed]

Supporting Wi-Fi and Flash player, the LelikTec Phantom 7 lets you connect to family and friends via Skype easily. This also means that you can stream videos online on YouTube or any TV channel website of your choice. It is easy to take pictures with your LélikTec with the built-in rear camera. You can share them with your connections on Twitter or Facebook, or other similar social networks. Browsing the web or checking your Email is a breeze with Google and Google Mail, respectively. The Android market offers a vast choice of applications, or apps, to pick from.

The display resolution of the Phantom 7 is of the order of 1024 by 600 for this model which has a flash memory of 8 GB. With a RAM of 1 GB this gadget will easily handle three apps running at a time.
You can recharge the battery in one of two ways; either plug the AC adapter in the socket, or recharge the battery via a USB cable connected to a laptop computer or Desktop PC.

Syncing

An interesting aspect of signing in with a Google account on your LelikTec is that you can keep up to date with what is happening on your Google account on your laptop or PC. This does not even require any specific syncing; the Phantom 7 does it automatically.

Performance

YouTube videos, for instance, streamed on the LelikTec were very clear and distortion free. Even with the Wi-Fi on and videos being watched for two consecutive hours, the device held the charge for at least three hours. The flash memory can be increased with a micro SD card for up to 32 GB to store even more media and data. The Phantom 7 can be used in various ways namely as a web browser, an e-reader or to play media. The headphone jack comes in handy to listen to music or watch videos without disturbing anyone else. Seasoned photographers will probably complain about the quality of the pictures taken with the camera of the LélikTec Phantom 7 but to most people, the images will look fine.

As an end word, I think the LélikTec Phantom 7 is great for the price tag (compare similar budget slates) and is best as a secondary tablet for adults or as a first 'grown-up' one for the Kids. (See some others for the kids.) It might take some getting used to but once you have broken it in, it is just fine.
